Insurance Plans

We do work with insurance companies, including Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield (Federal, Virginia, and Healthkeepers programs), CIGNA, and Medicare.   We are providers for Tricare Standard (CHAMPUS) only.  Dr. Burdett is a non-participating Tricare provider, meaning we cannot file claims for you but you can file the claims yourself and be reimbursed by Tricare--contact Tricare for more information.  We are not providers for Tricare Prime, though you can use your Prime Point-of-Service Benefits, meaning that you must pay in full at the time of service and file an insurace receipt we will give you to Tricare.  The deductible is higher and copayments are also higher.

If we are not a provider for your insurance, you can pay in full at the time of service and then file the claim to your insurance company. Check to see if your insurance company has out-of-network benefits. Please note that we are NOT providers for Care First, United Healthcare, MAMSI/Optimum Choice, MdIPA, Kaiser, Alliance, Medicaid, or Aetna.

Emergency Coverage

We have an after-hours emergency service for current patients who need to reach their therapist in the event of a psychiatric emergency.  Coverage is also provided by other staff members when a therapist is on vacation.  New patients should contact 911 or their local emergency room in the event of an emergency.

HIPAA Policies (Health Insurance Portability and Privacy Act)

We have a written HIPPA policy which addresses your privacy rights as a patient.  You will need to read this policy at your first appointment and sign a statement stating that you have read and agree to its terms in order to be treated at our facility. You can save yourself some time by downloading it here and reading it in advance.  Click here for HIPPA policy.

Guide to Therapy

All patients should read our guide to therapy, which explains in detail what to expect in individual, couples, and family therapy.  It also explains what to expect if you are bringing your child or adolescent in for therapy.  Click here for Guide to Therapy.

Group Therapy

We do not currently offer any therapy groups.  You may want to check with Psychological Life Skills Associates (703) 490-0336, Prince William Family Counseling (703) 330-9933, or Northern Virginia Family Services at (703) 490-3646 (Woodbridge) or (703) 392-4901 (Manassas).   Steven Milgram has a group for people coping with chronic pain or illness.
