Community Outreach/Workshops

Some of our clinicians are available to give talks to the community on various mental health topics.  We can also provide training to organizations.  Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Services offered by Child and Family Counseling Center

We offer the following services:

We have an after-hours emergency service for current patients who need to reach their therapist in the event of a psychiatric emergency.  Coverage is also provided by other staff members when a therapist is on vacation.  New patients should contact 911 or their local emergency room in the event of an emergency.

We do not currently offer any therapy groups.  You may want to check with Psychological Life Skills Associates (703) 490-0336, Prince William Family Counseling (703) 330-9933, or Northern Virginia Family Services at (703) 490-3646 (Woodbridge) or (703) 392-4901 (Manassas).   For an updated list of therapy groups in the area, check out our GROUPS page.

Insurance and Billing Information

We do work with some insurance companies, including Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield (Federal, Virginia, and Healthkeepers programs), CIGNA, and Medicare.   We are providers for Tricare Standard (CHAMPUS) only.  Dr. Burdett is a non-participating Tricare provider, meaning we cannot file claims for you but you can file the claims yourself and be reimbursed by Tricare--contact Tricare for more information.

We are not providers for Tricare Prime, though you can use your Prime Point-of-Service Benefits, meaning that you must pay in full at the time of service and file an insurace receipt we will give you to Tricare.  The deductible is higher and copayments are also higher.  In some cases, you can get a referral from your PCM, in which case you may be reimbursed at a higher rate.

Our psychiatrists are NOT Medicare providers, and Medicare will not reimburse you, nor will your secondary insurance.  You will need to sign a waiver acknowledging this at the office.

Please note that you are responsible for knowing your mental health benefits.  We cannot guarantee that information we obtain from your insurance company is accurate, as they don’t always have access to the latest information on your benefits.  Check your written materials on your policy or contact your HR person.

Please note that we are NOT providers for Care First, United Healthcare, MAMSI/Optimum Choice, MdIPA, Kaiser, Alliance, Medicaid (this includes Healthkeepers Plus and Amerigroup), Guardian, or Aetna.

If we are not a provider for your insurance, you can pay in full at the time of service and then file the claim to your insurance company. Check to see if your insurance company has out-of-network benefits.  This does NOT apply to CareFirst--we cannot give you an insurance receipt due to a contract dispute.
